How this Centrelink calculator works

Your answers run through each of our single-payment calculators — the same ones behind the JobSeeker, Parenting Payment, Family Tax Benefit, Youth Allowance, Austudy, Rent Assistance, Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment, Carer Allowance and Child Care Subsidy pages. Each applies that payment's own age rules, income test and assets test. You can only get one income support payment, so the highest one you qualify for is ranked first; payments that sit on top of it follow.

How much can I get from Centrelink?

It depends on which payment you qualify for and your income and assets. From 20 September 2026 the maximum rates include JobSeeker Payment $833.70 a fortnight (single, no children), Parenting Payment Single $1,080.20, and Age Pension $1,237.70 (single, including supplements). Rent Assistance adds up to $223.80 a fortnight for a single person renting privately. Source: Department of Social Services indexation rates, 20 September 2026.

Can I get more than one Centrelink payment at a time?

You can only get one income support payment at a time — JobSeeker Payment, Youth Allowance, Austudy, Parenting Payment, Age Pension, Disability Support Pension or Carer Payment. Family Tax Benefit, Rent Assistance, Carer Allowance and Child Care Subsidy can be paid on top of it. This calculator shows the highest income support payment you appear to qualify for as your likely main payment and lists the others as alternatives.

Is this Centrelink calculator's estimate what I will be paid?

No. It is an estimate based on the answers you give and the published rates and income and assets tests. Services Australia decides whether you are eligible and how much you are paid, after you claim. Waiting periods, residence rules, mutual obligation requirements and medical assessments also apply.

What income and assets does Centrelink count?

Income is your gross income before tax from work, investments and most other sources, plus your partner's if you have one. Assets are everything you own except your home — savings, shares, cars, contents, investment property, and super once you reach Age Pension age or start drawing an income stream from it. For pensions, savings and shares are also 'deemed' to earn income whatever they actually earn.
