How much is the Disability Support Pension in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, the maximum DSP is $1,200.90 per fortnight for a single person aged 21 or over, and $905.20 per fortnight each for partnered recipients. People under 21 without children receive a lower rate of $604.70 per fortnight.

Can I work while on the Disability Support Pension?

Yes. DSP recipients under Age Pension age can work up to 30 hours per week. The income free area is $226 per fortnight for single recipients and $396 combined for couples, from 1 July 2026. Above this, your DSP reduces by 50 cents per dollar of income.

Who is eligible for DSP?

DSP is for people aged 16 or older with a permanent physical, intellectual, or psychiatric condition that is fully diagnosed, treated, and stabilised, and that prevents them from working 15 or more hours per week at or above the relevant minimum wage within the next 2 years. A medical assessment by a Government-appointed doctor is required.
