How much is Carer Payment in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, the maximum Carer Payment is $1,200.90 per fortnight for a single person and $905.20 per fortnight each for partnered recipients. Carer Payment is paid at the same rate as the Age Pension.

What is the difference between Carer Payment and Carer Allowance?

Carer Payment is an income support payment for people who are unable to work because they provide constant care. It is income and asset tested. Carer Allowance ($157.40/fn) is a supplement that is NOT income or asset tested — you can receive it on top of Carer Payment or any other payment.

Can I work while receiving Carer Payment?

Yes, you can work up to 25 hours per week (including travel time) and still receive Carer Payment. The income test allows you to earn up to $218 per fortnight (single) before your payment is reduced.
