How much is the Age Pension in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, the maximum Age Pension is $1,200.90 per fortnight for a single person and $905.20 per fortnight each for a couple. This includes the base rate, Pension Supplement, and Energy Supplement.

What is the Age Pension income test?

Single pensioners can earn up to $218 per fortnight before the income test reduces their pension. For couples, the combined free area is $380 per fortnight. Above these thresholds, the pension reduces by 50 cents for every dollar of assessable income.

What is the Age Pension asset test?

For homeowners, a single person can have up to $321,500 in assets and still receive the full pension. The pension cuts off at $714,500. For non-homeowners, the full pension threshold is $579,500 and the cut-off is $972,500. The pension reduces by $3 per fortnight for every $1,000 above the full pension limit.

What is the Work Bonus for pensioners?

The Work Bonus allows Age Pension recipients to earn up to $300 per fortnight from employment without it counting under the income test. Unused amounts accumulate in a Work Bonus balance up to $11,800, which can be used to offset future employment income.
