How much is JobSeeker Payment in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, JobSeeker Payment is $795.20 per fortnight for a single person with no children. Single principal carers receive $850.60 per fortnight. Partnered recipients receive $725.30 each per fortnight. These rates include the Energy Supplement.

How much can I earn on JobSeeker before my payment is reduced?

You can earn up to $150 per fortnight before your JobSeeker Payment is reduced. Between $150 and $256 your payment reduces by 50 cents for every dollar earned. Above $256 it reduces by 60 cents per dollar. Working Credit can help you keep more of your payment when you start working.

Who is eligible for JobSeeker Payment?

JobSeeker Payment is for people aged 22 to Age Pension age who are looking for paid work, temporarily unable to work due to illness or injury, or doing approved activities to improve employment prospects. You must be an Australian resident and meet income and assets tests. If under 22, Youth Allowance for job seekers may apply instead.

Do I get a higher rate if I'm over 55?

Yes. If you are 55 or older and have been receiving JobSeeker Payment continuously for 9 months or more, you qualify for a higher rate of $853.60 per fortnight (compared to $795.20 for those under 55). This higher rate was extended to people aged 55-59 in the May 2024 budget.
