How Breaks Work in Practice
•The classic 8-hour day: 10-min rest break at ~2 hours, 30-min meal at ~4.5 hours, 10-min rest break at ~6.5 hours.
•Meal break is unpaid, so you actually spend 8.5-9 hours at work for 8 hours of pay.
•The 5-hour rule still applies — meal break must come before you hit 5 hours straight.
•Both rest breaks are paid. The clock keeps running and you get full hourly pay for them.
What if you don't get your breaks?
