What award covers Myer workers?
Myer sales and support staff are covered by the General Retail Industry Award (MA000004). Myer also operates under an enterprise agreement, which can set rates above the award — but the award is the legal floor your pay can never drop below. If you're unsure which applies, ask HR for a copy of your enterprise agreement.

Myer adult hourly rates (21 and over)
As of 1 July 2025, the General Retail Industry Award minimum hourly rates for adults are:
- Retail Employee Level 1 (sales assistant, register, stockroom): $25.44/hr
- Retail Employee Level 2 (experienced, some supervision): $26.03/hr
- Retail Employee Level 3 (skilled / specialist): $26.47/hr
- Retail Employee Level 4 (department / section supervisor): $26.97/hr
From the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026, these award rates rise 4.75%. If Myer's enterprise agreement pays above the award, it must stay at least at these new floors.
Myer junior pay rates (under 21)
Junior rates are a percentage of the adult Level 1 rate:
- Under 16: $11.45/hr (45%)
- 16 years: $12.72/hr (50%)
- 17 years: $15.26/hr (60%)
- 18 years: $17.81/hr (70%)
- 19 years: $20.35/hr (80%)
- 20 years: $22.90/hr (90%)
Casual loading and penalty rates at Myer
Casual workers get a 25% loading — a Level 1 adult casual gets at least $31.80/hr. Penalty rates for a Level 1 adult permanent employee:
- Saturday: 125% — $31.80/hr
- Sunday: 150% — $38.16/hr (casuals 175% — $44.52/hr)
- Public holidays: 225% — $57.24/hr (casuals 250% — $63.60/hr)
- Evenings after 6pm (Mon–Fri): 125% — $31.80/hr
Late-night trade and stocktake sales mean evening and weekend shifts are common — make sure those penalties show on your payslip. Use our penalty rates calculator.
Common pay issues at Myer
- Award vs agreement confusion — if you're paid under an EA, your base may differ but can't fall below the award floor.
- Missing penalty rates on late-night, weekend and public-holiday trade.
- Wrong classification — if you do Level 2+ work (supervising, specialist sales) on Level 1 pay, you're underpaid.
- Age increases not applied.
