Who covers Bank of Queensland (BOQ) workers — award or agreement?

Bank of Queensland runs retail and business banking nationally under the BOQ brand, alongside its owner-managed branch network and digital banking operations. Its workforce is almost entirely permanent and majority female, covering branch, contact-centre, lending and head-office roles.

The Banking, Finance and Insurance Award 2020 is the floor for branch and contact-centre roles, with many lending and management roles salaried above it. BOQ has a current registered enterprise agreement — shown below where it applies — which must leave employees better off overall than the award.

The federal awards relevant to Bank of Queensland (BOQ) roles:

The Bank of Queensland (BOQ) enterprise agreements

Enterprise agreements set rates above the award, with their own classification structures and allowances. Current Bank of Queensland (BOQ) agreements in our corpus (1 in total):

We don't reproduce agreement dollar figures here — the agreement covering your site, state and stream is the document to read. Find your agreement, then your classification, then your pay point, and compare it with your payslip. The award tables on this page are the floor every one of these agreements must beat.

Common financial services pay issues at Bank of Queensland (BOQ)

The patterns worth checking on a Bank of Queensland (BOQ) payslip:

  • Annualised salaries that don't cover overtime — contact-centre and branch staff regularly working past the award's ordinary span.
  • Level 1–2 for experienced consultant work.
  • Unpaid log-in time before shifts start and unpaid after-call work.
  • Rostered Saturdays without the award or agreement loading.

What to do if your pay looks wrong

Match your payslip to your classification in the agreement (or the award tables above), and price any gap with our back-pay calculator. Raise it in writing with payroll or your manager first — most underpayments are fixed at that step. Unresolved, the Fair Work Ombudsman (13 13 94) recovers underpayments at no cost, up to six years back, and your union can run the claim for you. Not sure which instrument covers you?
