How much is Farm Household Allowance in 2026?

From 20 March 2026, a single person 22 or older with no children gets $808.70 a fortnight, or $866.00 with a dependent child or children. A partnered claimant 22 or older gets $740.30 a fortnight. Single claimants younger than 22 get $677.20 (no children) or $854.20 (with children). A single claimant 55 or older moves to $866.00 after 9 continuous months on payment. Rates are indexed twice a year, on 20 March and 20 September.

How long can I get Farm Household Allowance for?

You can receive Farm Household Allowance for up to 1,460 days (four years) within a rolling 10-year period. The days don't need to be consecutive — they only count down while you're actually being paid.

What's the assets test for Farm Household Allowance?

Your combined farm and non-farm net assets must be under $5.5 million. Your home and up to 2 hectares on the same title are excluded from that test. A discretionary asset-hardship provision can apply if you're over the limit, but Services Australia assesses that case by case — it isn't a fixed formula.

Is there extra help beyond the fortnightly payment?

Yes — Farm Household Allowance includes an activity supplement of up to $10,000 over your lifetime, for training or professional advice under a Financial Improvement Agreement. It's separate from your fortnightly payment.
