Meal allowance

Worked unscheduled overtime past a normal meal break (e.g. >1.5 hrs past the end of your shift, or before a normal meal time without notice)

Tool / equipment allowance

Required to provide your own tools, knives, equipment for work

Laundry / uniform allowance

Required to launder or maintain a uniform supplied by your employer

First-aid allowance

You hold a current first-aid certificate AND your employer has designated you as the workplace first-aider

Leading-hand / supervisor allowance

You supervise other employees as part of your role (typically 3+ direct reports)

Higher-duties allowance

You perform the duties of a higher classification for a substantial part of a shift (often >2 hours)

Vehicle / motor-vehicle allowance

Required to use your own car for work travel (not commuting to/from your usual workplace)

Broken-shift allowance

Your shift is split into 2+ separate periods with an unpaid break of 2+ hours in between

Remote / cold / hot / dirty work allowance

Work in unusual conditions: remote location, refrigeration room, very hot environment, especially dirty work, confined space

Travel time / living-away-from-home allowance

Required to travel to a job site far from your usual workplace, or temporarily relocate for work
