Who covers Yooralla workers — award or agreement?

Yooralla is a Victorian disability services provider supporting people with disability through accommodation, therapy and community access services, and now operates alongside child and family services provider Berry Street as part of a merged organisation while keeping its own brand. Its workforce is largely disability support workers and allied health and therapy staff.

Support roles at Yooralla are covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS), with pay set by the disability services stream, level and pay point. Our corpus holds no current Yooralla enterprise agreement, so the award tables below are what should be on the payslip.

The federal awards relevant to Yooralla roles:

  • Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (MA000100)

Workforce snapshot. In the 2024-25 Workplace Gender Equality Agency reports, Yooralla reported 2,042 employees (part of the Berry Street Victoria Incorporated group, 3,433 employees in total, 23.7% casual and 71% women). Source: WGEA 2025 Public Data File, data.gov.au (CC-BY 3.0 AU).

SCHADS pay is a matrix — where to find your rate

The SCHADS award pays by stream (social and community services, home care, disability, crisis accommodation), then classification level, then pay point — so there is no single "disability support worker rate". Our SCHADS pay rates page carries the full current pay-point matrix, verified against the Fair Work Commission's pay database, plus the sleepover, broken-shift and minimum-engagement rules that decide most disability pay disputes.

Does Yooralla have an enterprise agreement?

As at 25 September 2026, our corpus of 14,141 federally registered enterprise agreements holds no current agreement for Yooralla. That usually means one of three things: the employer pays on the award (or on individual contracts above it), the agreement covering you is registered under a different entity name (check the employer name on your payslip and search our agreements database), or — for state public-sector employers — pay is set by a state award or agreement outside the federal register. If you have a copy of an agreement that names Yooralla, it beats the award figures above.

Common disability support pay issues at Yooralla

The patterns worth checking on a Yooralla payslip:

  • Wrong SCHADS level or pay point for qualifications and years of service.
  • Sleepover and active-night shifts paid as if they were the same thing.
  • Broken shifts without the allowance, and travel between clients unpaid.
  • Minimum engagements ignored on short support shifts.

What to do if your pay looks wrong

Match your payslip to your classification in the agreement (or the award tables above), and price any gap with our back-pay calculator. Raise it in writing with payroll or your manager first — most underpayments are fixed at that step. Unresolved, the Fair Work Ombudsman (13 13 94) recovers underpayments at no cost, up to six years back, and your union can run the claim for you. Not sure which instrument covers you?
