Who covers Anglicare Sydney workers — award or agreement?

Anglicare Sydney (the trading name of Anglican Community Services) is the Anglican Diocese of Sydney's welfare and aged care agency, running residential aged care homes, home care and a wide range of community and family services across New South Wales. Its aged care workforce includes personal care workers, registered and enrolled nurses, home care workers, and hospitality, cleaning and lifestyle staff, alongside caseworkers and support staff in its broader community services.

Aged care roles are covered by the Aged Care Award 2010 across its direct care and general streams, with nurses employed in Anglicare Sydney's homes covered separately by the Nurses Award 2020. Where our corpus holds a current Anglicare Sydney enterprise agreement it is listed below; any agreement has to beat these award minimums overall.

The federal awards relevant to Anglicare Sydney roles:

  • Aged Care Award 2010 (MA000018)
  • Nurses Award 2020 (MA000034)

Does Anglicare Sydney have an enterprise agreement?

As at 22 September 2026, our corpus of 14,141 federally registered enterprise agreements holds no current agreement for Anglicare Sydney. That usually means one of three things: the employer pays on the award (or on individual contracts above it), the agreement covering you is registered under a different entity name (check the employer name on your payslip and search our agreements database), or — for state public-sector employers — pay is set by a state award or agreement outside the federal register. If you have a copy of an agreement that names Anglicare Sydney, it beats the award figures above.

Common aged care pay issues at Anglicare Sydney

The patterns worth checking on a Anglicare Sydney payslip:

  • Wrong direct-care level — Cert III personal care workers sit at direct care level 3, not level 1 or 2; medication-competent and senior carers higher again.
  • Unpaid handover and documentation before and after the rostered shift.
  • Sleepovers, broken shifts and short-notice changes paid without the award's allowances.
  • Agreement rates frozen below the award's post-work-value floor — the award now overtakes some older agreement grids.

What to do if your pay looks wrong

Match your payslip to your classification in the agreement (or the award tables above), and price any gap with our back-pay calculator. Raise it in writing with payroll or your manager first — most underpayments are fixed at that step. Unresolved, the Fair Work Ombudsman (13 13 94) recovers underpayments at no cost, up to six years back, and your union can run the claim for you. Not sure which instrument covers you?
