Aldi Enterprise Agreement 2026: How Aldi's Region Agreements Work

Unlike Coles, Woolworths or Kmart, Aldi doesn't run a single national enterprise agreement. Its workforce is organised into regions, each named after the regional distribution centre that services it, and each region makes its own agreement with the Fair Work Commission. Current examples from the register:

• ALDI Prestons Agreement 2024 (NSW) — approved January 2026, nominal expiry 2 January 2030
• ALDI Minchinbury Agreement 2024 (NSW) — approved July 2024, nominal expiry 30 June 2028
• ALDI Derrimut Agreement 2024 (Vic) — approved June 2024, nominal expiry 26 June 2028

Every region agreement sits on top of the General Retail Industry Award (MA000004), which remains the legal floor.

Your agreement follows your region, not your suburb — the region is the group of stores and the warehouse serviced by one distribution centre. Your contract and payslip name the region (for example "ALDI Prestons"), and that's the agreement to read. Because regions bargain on their own timetables, neighbouring regions can be on different agreement years at the same time — that's normal, not a payroll error.

Each region agreement had to pass the Better Off Overall Test against the retail award, whose floor from 1 July 2026 is $27.81/hr for a permanent adult Retail Employee Level 1. Aldi's agreements are known for higher base rates traded against a leaner staffing model and, in some agreements, penalty structures that differ from the award — so whether you're better off can depend on when you work your hours.

Find your classification in your region's agreement, then check your base rate, how weekend and public-holiday hours are paid under that agreement's structure, and (if casual) that loading is applied. Because Aldi's penalty structure can differ from the award's, compare whole weeks rather than single shifts — the better-off-overall question is a package question.

Because each region bargains separately, expiry dates are staggered — Derrimut and Minchinbury run to mid-2028, while Prestons runs to January 2030, and other regions sit at their own points in the cycle. An agreement past its nominal expiry keeps operating until replaced or terminated, so a region "between agreements" is still covered.
