The current Hungry Jack's agreement

Hungry Jack's employees are covered by the Hungry Jack's National Enterprise Agreement 2024, approved by the Fair Work Commission on 20 March 2026 with a nominal expiry date of 9 December 2029. That makes it one of the newest major fast-food agreements in the country — and the live agreement for the rest of the decade's first half.

It sits on top of the Fast Food Industry Award (MA000003), which remains the legal floor.

Who it covers — and the franchise question

The employer on the agreement is Hungry Jack's Pty Ltd, covering crew, cooks and shift supervisors at company-operated stores nationally. Hungry Jack's also operates franchise stores — if your payslip names a different company as your employer, check whether that franchisee has its own agreement or pays under the Fast Food Industry Award directly. Either way, the award is the minimum.

How agreement pay compares to the Fast Food Award

To be approved, the agreement had to leave employees better off overall than the Fast Food Industry Award (the BOOT). The award floor from 1 July 2026 is $27.81/hr for a permanent adult Fast food employee level 1, with junior percentages, late-night loadings and weekend penalties built on top — the agreement's structure is assessed against that whole package.

For the current verified hourly rates by age and level, see our Hungry Jack's pay rates 2026 page, and check the award floor with the fast food award pay rate tool.

How to check your payslip against the agreement

Fast-food payslips go wrong in predictable places: junior rates not updated after birthdays, late-night loadings missed after 10pm, and weekend penalties paid at the weekday rate. Find your classification in the agreement, then check each of those items shift by shift.

If something looks short, run the numbers through our underpayment checker — underpayments can generally be recovered up to six years back.

Current status and expiry

With approval in March 2026 and nominal expiry on 9 December 2029, this agreement has a long runway — don't expect renegotiation soon. When the expiry date eventually arrives, the agreement won't switch off: it keeps operating until it is replaced by a new agreement or terminated by the Commission.
