Dan Murphy's award coverage

Dan Murphy's (Endeavour Group, formerly Woolworths Group) is covered by the General Retail Industry Award (MA000004). Some Dan Murphy's stores have enterprise agreements that pay above award.

Dan Murphy's hourly rates

Adult rates from 1 July 2025:

  • Level 1 (floor, click-and-collect): $25.44/hr permanent / $31.80/hr casual
  • Level 2 (experienced staff, cellar): $26.03/hr / $32.54/hr
  • Level 3 (specialist roles, fine wine): $26.47/hr / $33.09/hr

RSA and product knowledge

All Dan Murphy's customer-facing staff need a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. The cost of obtaining or renewing the RSA can in some cases be reimbursed by the employer — ask your store manager.

Specialist wine, spirits, or beer expertise can justify a higher classification level (Level 2 or 3). If you've completed product training and routinely advise customers, ask payroll to review your level.

Penalty rates

Permanent Level 1:

  • Saturday: $31.80/hr
  • Sunday: $38.16/hr
  • Public holiday: $57.24/hr
  • After 6pm: $31.80/hr

What to verify on your payslip

Endeavour Group's parent (Woolworths Group) self-reported $571 million in retail underpayments in 2021. Dan Murphy's was part of that program. Check:

  • Casual loading 25% on top of base, not absorbed
  • Weekend penalties applied
  • Correct level for cellar and specialist roles
  • Junior rate updates on time
