Pro rata salary is calculated by dividing the full-time salary by the full-time hours, then multiplying by your actual hours. For example, if the full-time salary is $80,000 for 38 hours and you work 30 hours: $80,000 × (30 ÷ 38) = $63,158 per year.

Do part-time workers get the same hourly rate as full-time?

Yes. Under Australian employment law, part-time employees must receive the same hourly rate as an equivalent full-time employee. The only difference is the total hours worked and therefore total pay. Casual employees receive a loading (typically 25%) instead of leave entitlements.
