Kmart Enterprise Agreement 2026: The Kmart National Agreement Explained

Yes. Kmart store team members are covered by the Kmart National Agreement 2024, approved by the Fair Work Commission on 18 November 2024 with a nominal expiry date of 17 November 2028. It sits on top of the General Retail Industry Award (MA000004) — the award remains the legal floor your agreement pay can never fall below.

Kmart (owned by Wesfarmers, like Bunnings and Officeworks) runs the usual store roles under this agreement: checkout and service, replenishment and night-fill, fitting rooms, online and click-and-collect.

The national agreement is a store agreement. Kmart's supply-chain sites bargain separately — for example the Kmart & UWU Truganina Customer Fulfilment Centre Enterprise Agreement 2025 covers the Truganina CFC in Victoria, and Kmart's WA and Lytton (Qld) distribution centres each have their own agreements too. If you work in a DC or CFC, your payslip should name the site agreement, not the national one.

Before approving the agreement, the Commission had to be satisfied it left team members better off overall than the General Retail Industry Award — the BOOT. The award floor from 1 July 2026 is $27.81/hr for a permanent adult Retail Employee Level 1, and agreement rates and structures are built above that baseline.

Find your classification level in the agreement, then check three things on each payslip: your base rate matches your level, penalty rates are applied to evening, weekend and public-holiday shifts, and casual loading (if you're casual) sits on top of the base rather than being folded into a flat rate silently. Check individual shifts, not just the weekly total.
