Yes. Your employer withholds HECS-HELP repayments from each pay based on your income and the ATO withholding schedule. The amount is included in your tax withholding.

Can I make voluntary HECS repayments?

Yes. You can make voluntary repayments at any time through the ATO. However, the 5% bonus for voluntary repayments over $500 was discontinued from 1 January 2022.
